The British Council is seeking to engage a competent, experienced video production company to produce and broadcast twenty five Ethiopian folktales already available with simplified English on the Ethiopian Folktales website (https://www.ethiopianfolktales.com/).  The main delivery platform will be Television broadcasting; however, we will also be exploring several other platforms including online resources, radio and mobile apps that could help children get plenty of access to the contents.

The overall objective of this project is to provide millions of young Ethiopians access to high quality and engaging English language learning opportunities. Focusing on general English improvement, stories produced in simplified English, will be broadcasted so school children in each region of Ethiopia could practice reading English while learning stories from their own cultural heritage.

Thus, a secondary objective of the project is to gain more insight into the feasibility and potential of TV as a medium to offer complementary lessons in support of curriculum content, whether it is on English language or citizenship, and help students become global learners.
