Important information on COVID-19 for British Council customers and partners

Following the end of the State of Emergency in Ethiopia, the British Council is partially resuming its face to face operations with several restrictions in place. Please note that for the most part, with regards to English language courses and Exams administration, our immediate focus will be handling the backlogs of English classes and IELTS exams.

English Teaching Centre 

To continue to protect the health and safety of our students, British Council English online classes will continue until December 2020. However, short face-to-face programmes for students who were unable to complete their courses due to Covid measues will be running from 9 November 2020 onwards. As we return to face-to-face classes for our Adult General English courses, we have put in place several precautionary measures in our teaching centres for your safe return.

These include:

·         Temperature checks on entry to the buildings

·         Hand sanitizer stations in every room

·         Classroom desks spaced at least a meter apart 

·         Thorough cleaning of classroom surfaces between every lesson

·         All students and parents/guardians accompanying them will be required to wear a mask while on the British Council premises. 

·         Saturday classes will have a staggered start/finish times to avoid an overcrowding inside the building. 

Please help us to stay safe, by ensuring your child wears a mask while they are on British Council premises, and by providing stationery items so that kids don’t need to share resources

IELTS

In light of the State of Emergency being lifted in Ethiopia, we're resuming paper-based and computer-delivered IELTS - which has even faster results of just 3-5 days.

Please note that currently, we haven’t resumed registering and as we are currently handling a huge number of backlogs. But, when we start registering, we will notify you through our website, social media channels, and main gate notice board.
