The British Council builds connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and other countries through arts and culture, education and the English language. We help young people to gain the skills, confidence and connections they are looking for to realise their potential and to participate in strong and inclusive communities. We support them to learn English, to get a high-quality education and to gain internationally recognised qualifications. Our work in arts and culture stimulates creative expression and exchange and nurtures creative enterprise.
We connect the best of the UK with the world and the best of the world with the UK. These connections lead to an understanding of each other's strengths and of the challenges and values that we share. This builds trust between people in the UK and other nations which endures even when official relations may be strained.
The Civil Society Support Programme Phase2 (CSSP2) is a capacity development programme designed to support Ethiopia’s civil society capacity to “contribute to inclusive and accountable governance; and an improved environment for the promotion and protection of the human rights of all Ethiopians”. To this end, CSSP2 has been supporting Ethiopian Civil Society organizations through Capacity development and grant making to undertake effective engagement with government to address the needs of hard to reach communities of Ethiopia. The programme has been also providing supports to relevant government stakeholders to build their capacity and create space and platforms for effective civic engagement and learnings. The programme implementation period is from August 2018 to August 2021.
The overall objective of the consultancy is to take stock of the achievements made by CSO partners around CSSP2 thematic areas in the last two years (2019-2020) whilst borrowing lessons from the same experience to inform future programming.
The specific objectives of the consultancy are to:
- Identify policy change and institutional and/or behavioural changes generated through CSSP2 thematic and sub-thematic areas, which will also be demonstrated by narrative case stories, and supported by photographs
- Capture documentary video (45-60 minutes full-length video) as a compelling story for the public, policy makers, and donors.
