Sankalp Africa has become one of the region's leading events for social entrepreneurship and impact investing. The summit witnesses hundreds of game changing social entrepreneurs interact with investors and ecosystem builders every year. In this year edition of the forum, Ethiopia is represented by strong delegation to showcase and present the fast-paced economic growth and a wide-spread social enterprise sector including a dedicated session on 'Frontier Economies: Ethiopia'.

Frontier Economies: Ethiopia

Many up-and-coming economies in Africa are not well understood, despite the significant market opportunities for business.  For economies that are under developed, or have recent regime changes, international investors often keep an arm’s length distance. Frequently, these countries are referred to as “conflict” or “fragile” economies, which is a discourse that needs to change – particularly to encourage private sector investments.  Though private sector investments are low in these Frontier Economies, the economy is ripe for anyone willing to take the risk to invest.  These knowledge sharing sessions will aim to de-mystify some of these economies, explain recent economic and political developments, and highlight some of the very real opportunities for investment in these regions.
